John & Lynn Franks, Kennedy's Place

Q: Describe Kennedy's Place...
A: Kennedy's Place is a casual breakfast and lunch spot featuring fresh and healthy fare utilizing locally sourced ingredients, whenever possible.  We offer one of the finest Northwest coffees, Caffe Vita, a Seattle-based green roaster.  We have a great following for our fresh juiced fruit and vegetable drinks, which we make to order.  Breakfast is served Monday through Friday and all day Saturday.  We offer scrambles, breakfast sandwiches, and hearty bowls of Snoqualmie Falls oatmeal.  Our lunch menu is a mix of made to order sandwiches, tossed to order salads, and a variety of paninis with plenty of vegetarian options as well as daily specials and house made soups.

Q: How did you get into the restaurant business?
A: I started out cooking at home with my mother, a fabulous cook, which led to culinary school and a wonderful opportunity to further my career in Europe.  From there I was fortunate enough to work at several of Seattle's finer restaurants.

Q: What do you like best about working in Downtown Everett?
A: It is a vibrant and growing place.  For the last seven years we have seen such a great transformation and the future looks even better! 

Q: What is your favorite item on the menu?
A: Soup, beautiful soup!  We make all of our soups from scratch with special attention to variety and seasonal fare.  The clam chowder has a great following.  We are especially proud of our homemade stocks and produce from our own organic garden.

Q: When you're not manning the restaurant, you can be found...
A: Hiking, swimming, reading, watching movies, cooking new stuff and trying to get the tomatoes to ripen on the vine (anyone with a garden probably knows what I mean)!
