Rishi Brown, Prohibition Grille
Q: Describe the Prohibition Grille...
A: Prohibition Grille is a Jazz and Blues Club featuring a gourmet southern menu. We have live jazz and blues on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We also feature live Egyptian music and professional bellydance shows the last Saturday of every month. We smoke all of our meats in-house so our BBQ and ribs are amazing! We also cut all of our steaks fresh, using all prime meats, so our rib-eye and filet are the best around. Plus, all of our side dishes are made to order.
Q: How did you get into the restaurant business?
A: I have been in the entertainment business for 28 years as a professional bellydancer. My friend owned Prohibition Grille and I thought it would be an amazing place for a jazz and blues club so I decided to give it a try.
Q: What do you like best about working in Downtown Everett?
A: I love the community we have developed in Downtown Everett. I worked for the City of Everett for many years (before opening Prohibition Grille) developing programs for underprivileged youth and their families and this was some of the best work I have ever done. At Prohibition, I continue to support programming in Everett any way I can. We support all local events and are trying to keep live music alive. Downtown Everett is an up and coming metropolis that will be a hub for music, art, culture and much more.
Q: What is your favorite item on tap/on the menu?
A: We boast an amazing martini bar featuring the Louisiana Lemondrop, Sidecar, Charleston Chocolate Kiss, Dirty South and many more. A favorite food item would be out sweet potato fries with a brown sugar bourbon glaze. Also, our buttermilk chicken breast with red eye gravy and of course the surf-n-turf features our hand cut filet mignon with large tiger prawns and fresh scallops finished with a made-to-order tarragon sauce. There are so many things!
Q: What's coming up at the Prohibition Grille?
A: We will be having our 2-year anniversary party on September 4th. This is sure to be a super fun event. We will have an outside music stage and a beer garden. Mark you calendars!
Q: When you're not manning the restaurant, you can be found...
A: Teaching bellydancing and being a mom and a wife. I have a second business with a professional dance company. You can learn more on our website: www.rishisegypt.com
